Song Writing: Advanced
In this project you will be taking a song that was created in the last project, finishing it, and creating a music video for it. While the steps are not complicated, this project is somewhat involved and will take a lot of work. You may choose to do this project individually or as a group. IF you choose group, you will be graded harder and you must prove that all members of the group participated in the project by providing a write up at the end of the project.
Project Requirements
1) You must have a portfolio page dedicated to your song. The page should have the following:
- Title
- Members of the group
- Song parts clearly labelled
- Lyrics
- Chord progression on top of the lyrics
- Video at end of the page
- If you don't do this step, you fail instantly.
2) (30%) Your song should have the following:
- AABA form (The B section must be "different" meaning it should have a different chord progression or be an instrumental solo section, etc.)
- Three verses
- Some type of clear beginning. Yes this means you need an introduction of some sort.
- A clear ending. Fade out is not an option. Anyone who does a fade out gets an F instantly.
- Your lyrics should follow some type of musical verse. This means it needs to fit the number of measures you have set for each verse. Your lyrics should be understandable and sound like speech. If you create a rhyme scheme, you must follow your rhyme scheme for each verse.
3) (70%)Your music video should have the following:
- A title page or a caption that has the song title, artist, and year it was created.
- You need to record your whole song in the video.
- You may NOT use Acapella for this video.
- Your video should sound polished. You will be graded on how you/your group sounds so your layered parts should be in sync and you should practice a fair amount to make this section extra good.
