Portfolio Creation and Pages
All MPI Orchestra Students will need to create an online orchestra portfolio. The suggested medium for this is Weebly. Weebly is an app that lets you create webpages on your iPad. Here is the app that you need:

You may choose to create your portfolio through a different website creator if you want but you need to make sure you can embed YouTube or similar videos.

Starting your Portfolio
Creating your online portfolio should be relatively easy. You will only need a title, a picture of yourself, your e-mail, and a section where you will be posting pictures and video. You will be completing the content that goes in the page over the course of the school year.
Portfolio Content
Your portfolio content will be based on the following five areas of music: Tone, Intonation, Rhythm, Technique, and Musicality through Group/Solo Performance. You may choose to create your own exercise for the given area OR do one of the prescribed exercises Mr. Masaki has provided for you.
I have defined the five areas of music below...
Tone- Tone is represented by two different things. The first is just how clear do your notes sound when you play them. The second is how long can you hold a pitch with a clear, audible, sound.
Intonation- Intonation is how well you can play in tune so the following videos represent how well you can play notes in tune.
Rhythm- Rhythm is literally how well you can play a series of notes with different values relative to a given time signature.
Technique- This is looking at things like posture, bow hold, fingerings, and your general ability to shift, vibrato, etc.
Musicality through Performance- Musicality is how well you can play/interpret the markings on a page. If the music contains dynamics and/or other markings such as sfz or accents, how well do you play these markings AND do they effectively contribute to how the piece sounds.
You will only need to post on THREE of the five areas. You must do this once a quarter for a portfolio grade.
