Note Identification (ID) Levels
Being able to identify your notes and fingerings on a page are extremely important in orchestra. If you cannot ID notes and fingerings quickly, it will take you forever to learn to read and perform your music. To help all of you learn your notes, you should all have the Tenuto app. It is in your best interest to practice learning note names with Tenuto. To make this process even easier, you will be graded in different levels so you can expand your range of notes slowly over a period of time.
The instructions for all of the instruments listed below are correct except for String Bass/Double Bass (bass). Bass is a little different compared to the other instruments.

All students must answer at least 40 in a minute.

Level 1
Level 1 in Note ID will take you from your Open D- Open A and all of the notes in between.
Level 2
Level 2 in Note ID will take you from Open G- D on the A string and all of the notes in between.
Level 3
Level 3 will take you from your lowest open string- the highest note you can play in first position.
Level 4
Level 4 will take you from your lowest open string- the highest harmonic on your open string.
Level 5
Level 5 will include Level 4 for your instrument PLUS Level 1 for a different clef except for cello players. Cello players will do level 4 for cello PLUS the following in TENOR CLEF:
Level 6
Level 6 will include Level 4 for your instrument PLUS level 2 for a different clef. Cello players will do level 4 for cello PLUS the following in TENOR CLEF:
Level 7
Level 7 will include Level 4 for your instrument PLUS level 3 for a different clef. Cello players will do level 4 for cello PLUS the following in TENOR CLEF:
Level 8
Level 8 will have you working in three clefs. For all instruments, you will do Level 7 PLUS Level 4 in an additional clef.
